Subject-Verb Question

Which of the following is correct:

(A) The solution is two non-intersecting sets
(B) The solution are two non-intersecting

Could we also write the above sentence as:
Two non-intersecting sets is/are the solution?

What is the subject in this example: Two non-intersecting sets or the solution?

Any easy rule to identify the subject correctly?

A] is correct.
solution is singular.
