such as vs. such...as

What's the difference between "such as" and "such...as"?
For example,
The new theory could explain hominid features such as a large jaw and big teeth.
The new theory could explain such hominid features as a large jaw and big teeth.
Are they the same?
Thanks in advance.

you ask good questions.

there's a slight rhetorical difference, although i can comfortably guarantee you that no gmat question will even turn on that difference. (so the short answer, in purely gmat terms, is 'effectively no difference')

rhetorically, statement (2) above carries an implication that a large jaw and big teeth are primary or archetypal examples of whatever you're talking about, while statement (1) just implies that those two things are examples (and implies nothing about their being paramount examples).
