I am not sure whether I can explain it in detail but we need a answer choice that explains why
early 1500s treatises lend support to the attribution of Lacrimae to Pescard and why not
late 1500s treatises.
pay close attention to the bold parts above.
What if late 1500s treatises are the same as early 1500s treatises? They won't add anything new. So, answer choice D is exactly what we are looking for.
amysky_0205 Wrote:(D)the later treatises probably had no source for their attribution other than the earlier treatise
Answer choices A, B and C are not even relevant as these choices are not talking about the newly discovered treatises i.e. late 1500s treatises but we want answer why late 1500s treatises lend no support to the attribution of Lacrimae to Pescard.
Option E is out of scope, we are not talking about the 1600s treatises.
Answer choice D is correct.
