Hi,

Is there a better way to solve this without pluging values?

Thank you for your help!!

Ruben

The figure shows the top side of a circular medallion made of a circular piece of colored glass surrounded by a metal frame, represented by the shaded region. If the radius of the medallion is r centimeters and the width of the metal frame is centimeters, then in terms of s and r, what is the area of the metal frame, in square centimiteres?

The Area of the Metal frame would be: 3.14 x (r + s) x (r + s) - 3.14 x r x r => 3.14(s x s - 2rs)
