the jury - cat question

by allfta Sun Dec 29, 2013 9:47 am

Due to the highly sensitive nature of the court proceedings, the jury has been sequestered to prevent the leaking of information to the press.
1 has been sequestered to prevent the leaking of information
2 have been sequestered to prevent the leaking of information
3 has been sequestered to prevent them from leaking information
4 have been sequestered in an attempt to prevent them from leaking information
5 has been sequestered to prevent the leaks of information from them

my question is about the leacking in choice A.
In my understanding use of "a/the verbing" is inferior comparing absolute noun form - in this case, the leaks.

But the explain of ur DB says that the leaks in choice E seems like it refers some kind of specific leaks rather than leak in general.

As soon as review this question I thought that the "the leaking" is better here becoz the actor of the verb is in the sentence-jury-. However, it is hard for me to feel as a non-native that the expression "the leaks" refer specific. Would you explain little bit more?

Hi,
This is the wrong folder for MGMAT problems.
Problems from our CAT exams should be posted in the "MGMAT CAT" folder. Problems from any other MGMAT source should be posted in the "MGMAT non-CAT" folder.

Please post a new thread in the correct folder. Also, when you do so, please write out all words in full. Please do not use unnecessary abbreviations (e.g., I have no idea what "ur DB" means).

Thanks.
