i don't know the terminology you're using, so i can't comment on that.
on the other hand, if a sentence contains things that should be parallel—regardless of whether they actually are parallel in the original sentence (which, remember, is wrong 80 percent of the time)—you should know EXACTLY what those things are from your initial reading.
if there are parallel things, that's an essential part of the meaning of the sentence.
i.e., if you don't realize that two things in a sentence are 'thing a' and 'thing b', then ... well, you don't understand the meaning of the sentence.
