Though Frank Lloyd Wright is best remembered

by vo10 Sun Aug 01, 2010 9:36 am

Though Frank Lloyd Wright is best remembered today because of bold designs like the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, most of his buildings were intended to blend into their surroundings.
A because of bold designs like the Guggenheim Museum
B for bold designs such as the one for the Guggenheim Museum
C because of bold designs such as the Guggenheim Museum
D because of bold designs such as that for the Guggenheim Museum
E for bold designs like the Guggenheim Museum's

Correct answer is B. How are we to know that the original sentence was not stating that he designed the museum.

We can eliminate the options A and E as they are incorrectly using
"like".
The option C has the parallelism issue. We are comparing the bold design with the museum.

The option D is incorrect as subordinate clause does not have a subject.

hence the option is B.

Thanks and Regards,

vo10, your question is irrelevant, because the answer to your queston is not needed (or even helpful) to solve the problem. Be sure not to chase issues that are not going to move you forward in the problem. Parthatayi’s explanation cuts right to the heart of the issue and gives an idea of how to approach this one efficiently..
