Usage of like, in this sentence..[OG13]

Source: OG13 SC Rules

when the kids went to sleep they slept like logs.

Intuition says the obv. it will not be "as logs do", but if I go by the rules for "like comparisons" -- shouldn’t the left and right parts be nouns, in this case we have a verb(slept) like noun (logs)

What follows like or unlike must be noun or noun + prepositional phrases. What immediately precedes like or unlike does not have to be a noun
