Q: 8 years from now, the bottle of wine labeled "Aged" will be 7 times as old the bottle of wine labeled "Table". 1 year ago, the bottle of wine labeled "Table" was one-fourth as old as the bottle of wine labeled "Vintage." If the "Aged" bottle was 20 times a sold as the "Vintage" bottle 2 years ago, then how old is each bottle now?
-I'm stuck on the answer explanation in the answer key. The 2nd para states..."Also, one year ago, Table was one-fourth as old as Vintage. This means that Vintage was four times as old as Table, one year ago." In the chart it lists Vintage= 4t-4.
I understand if 1/4T=V and according to the chart T=T-1 then 1/4 (T-1)=1/4T-1/4=V but I don't understand how 4t-4....
1/4T-1/4=V
4 (1/4T-1/4)=V
T-1=4V
T=4V+1
