This is more of a general question about the third rule.

It says: H cannot be appointed to the same court as P.

Does this mean that we can put H/P (the "/" symbolizing "or") for both courts?

In other words, does the rule state that H and P must be used?

This rule made me hesitate but once I got into the problems, I realized that this is the case. Still, the wording didn't seem strong enough to make that assumption.

Some enlightenment would be appreciated.

Great question.

H and P do both have to be used--but we don't have to assume this, or read it into the third rule. We're told that each of the candidates is appointed to one of the courts. (Look back at the first sentence.) That means we can't have any judges left over, floating around.

Since H and P both have to be assigned to a court, and there are only two courts, and they can't be assigned to the same court:

YES. You can and should notate "H/P" in one slot in each court.

Please confirm the recommended best approach and diagram to use for this game. I got the answers right, but don't think I did it that efficiently.

I went back and added a diagram to Mary's post above. If you found this game tough, you might have been over-thinking it, or perhaps you misread a rule.

Of course, feel free to start a thread about a specific question.
