Here's the setup for this tricky game. This sort of game hasn't appeared on the test for over 10 years, but that doesn't mean they won't bring it back!

One of the tough things on this game is reverse engineering. For example, in question 22 they give you a clue about a possible future assignment and then ask you to figure out how things looked in the previous assignment.

Here's how the game fundamentally works...

If on the first reassignment I follow plan 2, and then on the second reassignment I follow plan 1, it would have the following pattern.

LMNO - initially
LMON - 1st reassignment
ONLM - 2nd reassignment

To test your skills, what would it look like if you followed plan 1 and then plan 3?

Where can we conclude that this is the initial set up?

L M N O
Q R S T

I think I must have misunderstood the game because I did not catch the "initial" set up. Is there a key word that gives it off?

It's so easy to miss this because we're not used such critical information given at the very beginning!

"Four apprentices - Louis, Madelyn, Nora, and Oliver - are initially assigned to projects Q, R, S, T, respectively."

"initially" and "respectively" would be the words that tip us off.

That's an important question, I'm glad you asked about it.

Question 22 really confused me because I interpreted Louis being "reassigned" to mean that he was on R, then taken off, and then put on again. Of course this is too many reassignments for the year. I should have figured from the wording in the stimulus (two reassignments will be made) that Louis being reassigned to R doesn't necessarily mean that he had been assigned to R before.

I am completely lost on this game. I literally have no idea how it works? It seems to assert that any of these plans can be first or second and that they are the only rules plans correct? So then how do these conditionals come into play?

So the plans are the rules by which the players are reassigned to the positions. There is an initial assignment:

Q R S T
L M N O

if we were to follow plan 1 on the first reassignment then Q and S would switch and R and T would switch. And the assignments would be:

Q R S T
N O L M

If from there on the second reassignment we followed plan 2 with S and T and switching, the new assignments would be:

Q R S T
N O M L

So there are multiple reassignments and we have to follow the specified plans in these reassignments. We know that there will be two reassignments over the course of the year, and we're trying to track the assignments of apprentices to positions over the course of these reassignments.

Does that answer your question mcmassier?

How do I tackle question 20 effectively? Because I assumed the second reassignment means "Plan 2" and then I assigned N to T yielding: Q R S T
L O M N And then both choice (C) AND (D) would be correct. I obviously got something wrong. Please help.
