Thanks for the diagram! I do have one question. In the first frame (with Wayne playing a traditional piece in the fourth slot) how do you know that Wayne plays the second modern piece? Doesn't rule 5 allow him to perform the first modern piece OR the second modern piece in this frame? Or did you somehow determine that Zara plays the fifth piece, which pushes Wayne into the second slot?

Good catch!

She built the frames off the W/T vs. Z/M rule in spot 4.

Since W/T in 4 gives us our TT chunk, we can't put a T in 2 or 5, otherwise we would have TTT or even TTTT).

And a T can never go first.

So we only know that the bottom row is
M M T T M

In the top row, we know that W has to go at least once in the first two spots, but it's possible that it's
W Z _ W W
or
Z W _ W Z
or
W W _ W Z
all on top of
M M T T M

Thanks for the correction!

I'm a bit confused by the diagram. Are we to assume that only two traditional pieces are played? I don't see any rule about that but all of the correct answers seem to reflect that assumption. Otherwise instead of the two options presented couldn't we have more like 4?

__ W _ W Z
M M T T T

_ W _ W Z
M M T T M

W _ _ Z _
M T T M T

W _ _ W _
M T T T M

W _ _ Z _
M T T M M

How do I eliminate some of these options?

We don't have to assume only 2 T's, but we'd never have 3 in a row.

So two of your scenarios there are breaking the rule that says "EXACTLY TWO of the T's are consecutive".

Theoretically, we should be able to do 3 T's by doing
M T T M T
or
T M T T M

But then the final rule makes it such that we could never do T M T T M

So we'll always have 2 T's, except for when
M T T M T

Just because no correct answer rewards a given scenario doesn't mean it was impossible, btw, but I see why you started to wonder if you had missed something.
