Feynman Technique - Should I explain it out loud or explain

Ive seen multiple tutorials on how to do the Feynman technique but they all seem to differ when it comes to explaining the topic in simplified language as if you were teaching someone else. Some tell you to write it down, others say to speak it aloud.

This makes it pretty confusing as I'm lost on which one is the actual technique and the one I should do.
