Can someone please explain how the answer is not E?

I think that A is wrong because it states that it is "more dangerous to one sex than to another" whereas the passage compares MALES with SMALL spots and MALES with LARGE spots. It's not comparing one sex to another in terms of predator detection due to the size of their spots. It's only saying guppies with large spots are in more danger because they are more likely to be detected by predators.

I have yet to ever post a questoin (mostly because everyone else has already posted any question I had). However, I have to say that this post was hilarious! Thank you for this :). Was using the first 5 questions of this section (which I've already taken before) as a relaxing "get into the mode" practice. When I saw "Why was E incorrect" I was panicking! First question of the section! what happened, then I scrolled down ;). Thanks for this! A nice laugh before a full PT  :).

Haha! Glad it gave you a laugh.

For the sake of it, here's a breakdown of the answer choices.

The large spots on the guppies are GOOD for mating, bad for avoiding predation.

(E) matches this: a trait that is helpful to procreation (mating) can nonetheless be bad in a different context.

(A) brings in a comparison between the sexes which isn't brought up, as a previous poster noted.

(B) misses the whole point about small spots sometimes being good and large spots sometimes being bad.

(C) does the same thing but even more criminally--what? Live the longest have the most offspring? No. Not what it's saying.

(D), like (A), brings in sexual comparison, which is irrelevant.
