PT17, S4, Q1 - The passage suggests which one

by tamwaiman Wed Jan 05, 2011 8:01 am

The answer is (E), but I don't where the later part of this answer is in the passage. (......, but it has recently become the subject of critical study)

Can anyone help me?
Thanks.

Both ideas are located in the same place, so if you can see that Harriet Wilson's work did not receive much critical attention when it was published, you're in the correct spot. The passage states, "Unlike the recently rediscovered and reexamined work of Harriet Wilson, Their Eyes was not totally ignored by book reviewers upon its publication." That means that Harriet Wilson's novel has been recently rediscovered and reexamined. That satisfies the second part of the answer choice that Harriet Wilson's novel, "has recently become the subject of critical study."

Does that answer your question?

Wow, that's subtle- important to remember that Harriet Wilson did not write any of the works mentioned by name in the passage. Also important to remember that you need to organize the elements of the passage in your head, skimming will not cut it.
