Q10

by mcrittell Mon Aug 15, 2011 10:24 pm

Quick way/things to realize to make this question fly by?

I have the following diagram for this one

1 Q _ _
2 R _ _
3 S _ _

I realize:
1) T needs to go in canoe 1|3.
2) G can't be in this canoe.
3) H goes in canoe 1|3.

Think about how many adults we have to choose from in the first place. It is 4.

3 of them have been placed.

H and T cannot go 2nd.

T is an adult.

If T cannot go in boat 2, what does that mean?

There are no more adults left for boat 2 to take. It must be the case that this boat will have to 2 children on there.

The first inference I made in this game was: Oh hey, 4 adults, 3 boats. One boat will have 2 adults. The other 2 boats will each have 2 children.

Good explanation, timmydoeslsat. This one is easy to overthink. You don't know a lot, so they go easy on you with the answer choices. Maybe it's worth a quick peek at the answer choices to narrow your focus. If you don't know about the two letters they ask about, move on to numbers of children (which makes up 3/5 answer choices).
