I just plugged things in, and luckily A was the first one I tried and it was correct. Plug K and S into Zone 1. Since S is always with U, that means K, S, U are going to be in Zone 1. Since Zone 2 has to be either T or SU, T has to be in Zone 2. But then that creates a problem for Zone 1 where we need to have PQ as well, since Zone 1 must have either PQ or T and now cannot have T. But an inference I got from the Big Pause was that Zone 1 cannot have more than 4, because that doesn't leave enough possible people to ensure that Zone 3 has at least one more person than Zone 2. So (A) must be false.

Great explanation.

I'll add that if you're not already doing this, make sure you do IF questions before you do non-IF questions. After doing the Orientation question, I do all my IF questions (including "fully determined" questions). That leaves me with some previous work to look back on.

From Q13, I would have had
1: __ __ Q P
2: T .......................SU / KM (either one can be in 1 or 3)
3: __ __

From Q18, I would have had
1: P Q
2: T ..................K can be in any of the three
3: S M U

(A) keep it (don't see it in any previous work)
(B) eliminate. Q18
(C) eliminate. Q18
(D) eliminate. Q18
(E) eliminate. Q13

One quick lap through the answers and I've already shown that B thru E are all COULD BE TRUE's, since I've already seen that stuff happen in Q13 and Q18.

Thus, I can pick (A) and know that it's right without actually knowing why it must be false.
