Originally chose C but during review saw that the "domesticated animals" was not supported by the passage. Lines 5-6 is where I referenced to get that the passage does NOT refer to domesticated animals, in fact implies that Mesolithic humans were using the clearings to attract wild animals.

B is the right answer and support can be found either in Paragraph 1 or 2, before the author talks about alternative views for the purpose of the clearings.
