(A) is out because it's not the speed at which photosynthesis occurs, it's the speed at which it's acquired.
(B) is out because the passage doesn't get into the relationship between acquired characteristics and natural selection.
(C) gets mentioned in the first example about bacteria and cell walls, but the author never says that this is what's important about inheritance of acquired traits.
