Hey Karen,
The last paragraph starts with a generalization: "early music advocates divorce music...from the life of which [it was] a part." It goes on to give two examples of this.
That's all that happens. The last sentence is not a "conclusion regarding their significance." It only relates to the second of the two examples. It states:
"To restore the original tempo of these symphonies..."
The tempo thing is only the SECOND example (the first example had to do with audibly playing a piano along with an orchestra), so the last sentence is just part of that second example.
