The question stem is an oddball: "Who's the audience for this passage?"
Me, dude. An LSAT student. You like, ... assigned it.
I would be looking for whatever answer I could best match up with the content of each passage.
(C) is talked about several times in both passages.
Psg A:
Lines 1-6, 13-17, 18-21
"positive effect on the listener" / "excite human curiosity" / "overwhelming" / "relaxing effect"
Psg B:
Lines 33-41, 46-49, 52-57
"musical emotions" / "emotion is experienced in relation to tension: the more tension, the more emotion" / "relaxation" / "negative and positive emotions based on extreme vs. mild mismatch of expectations".
None of the other answers have such volume of support
(A) There's a smidge of music theory in the 2nd passage but little to none in the first.
(B) Continuous vs. discontinuous only showed up in the 2nd
(D) The "teaching novices" comes out of nowhere. There's was some talk about the complexity of music, and it was in relation to the impact music can have on human emotional states. #Choice(C)
(E) Language was only talked about in the 1st passage.
