Q24.

by DavidH327 Wed Aug 29, 2018 9:04 pm

I had most difficulty with this question for this passage and came to check my reasoning for answer choices.
Since I could not find any, I would like to post mine to get some feedback.

24. B would disagree with A (given the statement of cross-examination)

A. absolute prohibition of independent research by trial judges is unjustified, although stated in A, B has no opinion about absolutely prohibiting independent research.
B. CORRECT. B would disagree with A that adversarial system is particularly ill suited especially in dealing with specialized knowledge because cross-examination can strengthen evidences.
C. B would not disagree that scientific admissibility exert greater influence in future. All he says is that cross-examination can strengthen eviences but it doesn't mean that scientific admissibility WILL not exert greater influence in the future.
D. B could agree that erroneous decision may be exposed by third parties we don't have support for B's stance on this matter.
E. B agrees. It appears as a correct answer in number 22. A.

I think that's great!

Since lines 39-43 are basically saying "adverse parties can help to figure out the 'truth' when it comes to the specialized knowledge of experts", psg B would disagree that the adversarial system is ill-suited to handling specialized knowledge.

Nice work.
