I did the same thing. However, looking back, I think C is too narrow of a scope to be the mainpoint. The "negative emotion" is just part of paragraph 2 of passage B and we need to incorporate paragraph 1 & 3 ideas too.

And is A the correct answer because it's broader and covers passage B as a whole - the fact that more complex music is preferred because of the listeners being able to deal with the emotions it produces. (after looking at question thread 21 where demetri.blaisdell explains what each paragraph of passage B is saying)

C explains only the negative emotions in para 2.

D explains only the positive emotions in para 1.
