Q4 - Dried grass clippings mixed into

Is (B) wrong because it contradicts what the stimulus says ("gradually decompose")?
Thank you

B is wrong because it doesn't help explain why dried grass clippings has a different result than fresh grass clippings. Also, B is kind of a premise booster since we already know nutrients are provided to beneficial soil bacteria from dried grass clippings (first sentence in the stim) - and the rate at which it becomes available, which is given in B, is seemingly irrelevant to the argument.

Here is a simple breakdown of the stimulus:

dried grass clippings result in better than average plant growth and fresh grass clippings result in poorer than average plant growth.

We need an answer choice that helps reconcile these two different results.

We get this in D as it gives a reason why fresh grass clippings results in poorer than average plant growth ie) because it decomposes rapidly killing off beneficial soil bacteria.

Let me know if this doesn't clear it up
