Q5 - Chinh: Television producers should

by ManhattanPrepLSAT1 Fri Dec 31, 1999 8:00 pm

This Flaw question asks us to see the flaw in Chinh's argument through Lana's eyes. Why does Lana think that Chinh's argument is flawed? Lana says that a producer is more like a CEO than an artist. Lana attacks the comparison drawn by Chinh to make his point and suggests that the comparison should be made differently.

Answer choice (E) speaks to the bad comparison (analogy) and so is correct.

Incorrect Answers
(A) correctly describes the wrong flaw. It's not that Chinh has presumed his conclusion to be true in the evidence, but rather made the wrong comparison.
(B) correctly speaks to the wrong flaw. No issue of representativeness based on a sample of the general population is brought forward.
(C) is, again, the wrong flaw. This answer choice is points out the difference between one's action and one's intention.
(D) is out of scope. Chinh is concerned only with great painters, and Lana doesn't think the comparison of producers to painters is appropriate. Lana would rather not consider painters at all.
