Q6

Why is A wrong? I thought it is discussed in the passage...
Is it because it is not for guaranteeing to have buyers?
I thought the recommendations are for the same purpose, allow farmers to cost less and staying in the business... but are the recommendations aiming for different purposes?

Question Type:
ID Information

Answer expected in lines/paragraph:
The question stem contained keywords, so we need to scan the passage to find a line that resembles "guarantee that small farms have buyers for all of their produce". Line 19-25 delivers, saying "to help guarantee small farmers a market for all of their crops".

Any prephrase?
What Whatley encourages is "grow only crops that clients ask for, and comply with client requests about chemicals". So we just need the closest match to this line reference.

Correct answer:
D

Answer choice analysis:

(A) Not a good match for our line reference. It wasn't about # of crops.

(B) Nothing about supermarkets in our line reference.

(C) Nothing about restricting the clients who a farm recruits.

(D) Yes! This looks just like what the passage said in lines 23-25.

(E) Nothing about irrigation.

Takeaway/Pattern: This is about as easy as RC is going to get. Students can often make this question harder on themselves if they don't take the time to find the keyword-sentence in the passage first. You know it when you see it, because of the close correspondence between keywords in the question stem and words in the line.
"Whatley advocates" = "Whatley encourages".
"help to guarantee that small farmers have buyers for all their produce" = "help guarantee small farmers a market for all their crops".
