Q7

by boy5237 Tue Nov 06, 2012 7:00 pm

I was desperately looking for supports for this question...
I believe that the first two paragraph didn't even talk about Mexican economics at all...

Where can I find the line to support the answer choice C for this question saying she is cautious about Mexican economic?
Was I supposed to draw that from the painting example? (US vs Mexico).

I focused on the big picture, which was that she loved Mexican cultures and more so... thought she would be enthusiastic about economic aspect as well.

Hi there,

I am far from an LSAT expert (planning to take it for the first time in December), but I was also struggling a little bit with this question so I was looking it up on here and saw you had no reply. I think I have an idea.

The answer is E) uncertain, which is hard to ascertain unless you find this subtle mention in the last paragraph:

"...similarly, she favoured planned economic development, but not at the expense of cultural identity."

This would imply (to me), that she was cautious about economic development, not wanting cultural identity to be sacrificed.

This is just my idea, anyone who knows better can feel free to correct me. Hope this helped!

Hi there, I would agree but doesn't that also suggest a lack of commitment. She would be willing to pursue economic development but she's not committed... thus, leading to answer D - "noncommittal"?

I looked at that same line and took that as a lack of commitment rather than cautious.

Any suggestions?

The correct answer is (C), cautious. For the same reason as a previous poster stated—lines 54 - 56.

Kahlo's favoring planned economic development but not at the expense of cultural identity does not mean she's noncommital. She may be committed, for example, to this very view. It also doesn't mean she's uncertain. It DOES however mean she is cautious about economic development, or (C).

Both (A) and (B) are too strong, in opposite directions.
