Re: Solve this verbal question please.

Correct answer should be E. Approach - - I considered first split as 'like a property arrangement' vs 'as a property arrangement' , i think here it should be 'as a property arrangement', because he is actually viewing marriage as a property arrangement and not comparing with it. This eliminates the ...

Re: Rectangle Properties: HELP!

If a rectangle is cut diagonally, the two traingles formed may or may not be 30 60 90 triangle. It depends on the length of the sides of rectangle. If the ratio of length to breadth of the rectangle is (sqrt 3):1 then only it will form 30 60 90 triangle.

Re: SC from MGMAT CAT

Here 'both' should refer to artists and historians, so a is right. But in b, 'both' is refering to Hogarth's engravings, which is wrong.

Re: The amount of car accidents

I have another doubt on this question. Would the below choice be incorrect if given? If so could you please explain why?

-The number of car accidents caused by faulty brakes, like the number caused by faulty wiring, has been increased significantly since regulations on manufacturing were relaxed.

Re: Question on MGMAT Idioms list

The usage of 'like' is incorrect in the sentence. Like is used to compare two nouns, but here it is comparing two clauses /action - 'Matt drives fast cars' LIKE 'his sister does' . Instead of like we should AS.

So the correct sentence should be -
Matt drives fast cars, as his sister does.

Re: recent national study of public schools

Because they are comparing the number of micro computers. Rephrasing the given sentence in numerical terms - If there are 640 (32 x20) pupils in the public school, there would be 20 MC, which they are comparing to 5 MC four years ago. As '5 micro computers' is plural, it is using 'were' and not 'was'

Re: Verb modifier and Pronouns

D.

Since the original sentence uses '... their own time' so the correct answer choice should have plural antecedent, leaving with answer choices D and E.

usage of inevitable is incorrect in E. It should be 'inevitably'. So the correct answer should be D.

Re: As vs Like

I think the correct answer choice should be C, because it is comparing the nation's 50 busiest airports to the new york's airport.

So following the comparison rule -

LIKE X (noun 1), Y (noun 2)....

Re: If x and y are positive integers...

Rephrasing - we need to find if either X or Y is even..? (1)- 5x - 4y is even Since 4y is even (irrespective of y being odd/even), 5x has to be even. Thus x will be even - SUFFICIENT (2) - 6x + 7y is even Since 6x is even (irrespective of x being odd/even), 7y has to be even. Thus y will be even - S...

Re: GMAT Prep DS

Answer should be C.

If the total no. of students in the college is X and the no. of males is M, then we can write the given information using both A and B options as -

.25 X = .33 M + .20 (X-M)

From here we can find the fraction of males i.e. M/X.

Re: Lab#2 DS Yes-No Testing #107. Dont understand.

Because by either of the option we are not getting the unique value of integer N. If we say N is greater than 3, then N could be 11 also, which is not the sum of two prime numbers. So we cannot say that option 1 is sufficient. N is odd: N could be 5 (sum of two primes) or 11 (not the sum of two prim...
